STOLEN CREDIT CARDS

First of all do not panic, it is not the end of the world and you will usually only be liable for up to £50 on any fraudulent use of your credit card (unless you can be proven to be liable, i.e. having your pin number with your credit card when it was stolen). Report your lost or stolen credit card immediately as once it is reported you are not liable if the credit card is used without your permission. Prior to reporting the lost or stolen credit card you would be liable for up to a maximum of £50, unless your card has been used without your permission to buy something over the phone or internet as you may be covered by your credit card, to find out more click here. You should report your lost or stolen card to the police and get a crime incident number which is needed for insurance claims and also contact your credit card company so that they can de-activate the card and issue you with a replacement.
It is a good idea to keep a copy of your credit card’s emergency phone number to contact as soon as you realise your credit card is lost or stolen. It also worth considering a Card Protection Plan. A card protection plan will enable you to cancel all cards and order replacements with one simple phone call. This is extremely useful if you possess lots of cards such as credit cards, store cards, debit cards.
